BEST: Capturing the Worst Tornado Winds

On 21 May, 2024, a powerful tornado hit the town of Greenfield, Iowa. A mobile team from the NSF BEST project captured some of the highest one-second gusts ever recorded using radar and instrument data. Karen Kosiba, PhD, and Jen Walton, founder of Girls Who Chase, were part of this incredible team.
