Greetings Weather Band Community,

Welcome to the June 2023 issue of On the Radar. As the summer season unfolds, we have some important topics and exciting news to share with you.

First, let's commiserate about the ever-present struggle of allergy season. I can relate all too well to the frustration and discomfort that allergies bring, as I've been battling the terrible symptoms lately. However, one thing that has helped me cope is keeping an eye on the weather forecast so I can make informed decisions about “weather” it's better for me to stay indoors away from all the pollen.

Of course, allergies pale in comparison with the devastating impact of this month’s forest fires in Canada. Our thoughts and support go out to those affected by the wildfires themselves and the smoke that has caused hazardous air quality across Canada and the U.S. It’s a reminder to all of us to practice every measure of fire safety this summer–and heed air quality warnings for our own health. If you want to track air quality, fires, and smoke in the U.S. and parts of Canada, you can .

Second, let's shift our focus to some exciting news—the opened Monday! We can't wait to see your remarkable photographs and showcase the weather, storms, and skies you've captured through your lenses.

As always, we appreciate your continued support and engagement with the Weather Band community. Remember to stay connected, share your weather stories, and be part of the ongoing conversations. We wish you an enjoyable and adventurous summer season!
