We are excited to open registration for the AMS Weather Band’s first Community and Citizen Science Symposium!

Please join us on January 21 and 22 from 12:00 - 5:00 PM ET to learn from, connect with, and celebrate community and citizen science in the atmospheric sciences.

Friday, 21 January

Friday’s program will focus on exploring existing community and citizen science programs. We’ll hear from leaders with NASA’s GLOBE program, the National Weather Service, CoCoRaHS, and AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange on how they work with community and citizen science, how and where citizen scientists make the biggest impact, and how your own observations can contribute to everything from community safety to satellite data.

Saturday, 22 January

Saturday’s program is all about the science in your own backyard. Speakers will present their work as storm spotters, their methods for collecting and analyzing climate observations, how different weather factors can change our physical health, and much more!

If you’re interested in sharing your own observations, we are still accepting presentation proposals from community and citizen scientists until 19 November. Our full program schedule will be released after all the speaker proposals are in.
